When the wisdom of traditional medicine meets modern oncology, what sparks will fly? Our Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Rehabilitation Center has officially opened! By combining the strengths of both Chinese and Western medicine, we aim to provide superior rehabilitation services for cancer patients—helping them restore balance, eliminate disease, and regain vitality.

TCM Rehabilitation Center Inaugurated—Injecting New Momentum into Cancer Recovery
On the morning of October 29, the inauguration ceremony of the TCM Rehabilitation Center was grandly held in the 9th-floor conference room of Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital (Haizhu Campus). Hospital leaders, TCM experts, and department heads gathered to witness this significant moment.

The establishment of the center marks an important step in integrating high-quality resources and innovating service models. It combines the strengths of modern medicine—precision diagnosis and standardized treatment—with TCM principles of preventive care and holistic regulation, offering patients comprehensive, long-term rehabilitation management. Vice President Xu Weizhong introduced the center’s core functions and emphasized: “The Center must be patient-centered, providing professional and personalized rehabilitation plans so that more patients can benefit from the synergy of Chinese and Western medicine.”

He pointed out that improving the hospital’s overall diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities requires not only the precision of modern medical technology but also the effective integration of TCM and evidence-based rehabilitation methods to comprehensively improve patients’ quality of life.
Zhao highlighted that TCM, as a great treasure of Chinese civilization, embodies profound philosophical wisdom and millennia of health-preserving experience. Establishing the TCM Rehabilitation Center aligns with national healthcare policy trends and growing public trust in TCM. It represents a key initiative in strengthening Fuda’s TCM rehabilitation capabilities and a vital step toward a diversified, patient-centered healthcare system.
He expressed his hope that the Center would fully leverage TCM’s distinctive advantages, adhering to the philosophy of “integration of Chinese and Western medicine, simultaneous treatment of body and mind, and emphasis on rehabilitation.”
By optimizing full-cycle cancer patient management, Fuda will continue to pursue high-quality, sustainable development, better serving the health needs of patients worldwide.

A New Milestone: Combining Expertise from North and South, East and West
President Niu Lizhi remarked that the establishment of the TCM Rehabilitation Center is a major milestone in the hospital’s development. He analyzed the limitations of modern medicine in cancer treatment and highlighted the joining of TCM expert President Wang Tiemin and his team from Qingdao Jingkang TCM Nephropathy Hospital as a powerful collaboration that bridges North and South China—creating new prospects for cancer rehabilitation. President Niu encouraged all colleagues to work together to build the center into a benchmark in the industry and make it a shining name card of Fuda.

“Cancer care is not only about removing tumors but restoring life quality” Professor Wang Tiemin, honorary president of Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital and a renowned TCM expert, shared the story of his first liver cancer patient after graduation, whom he treated using TCM to relieve severe pain.
He emphasized that TCM focuses on holistic regulation, effectively addressing areas where modern medicine falls short in rehabilitation.
Wang expressed confidence that the integration of Chinese and Western medicine will make significant contributions to both cancer prevention and treatment, ultimately benefiting more patients.

Multidisciplinary Joint Consultations: When 1 + 1 > 2!
After the unveiling ceremony, medical experts from Fuda and Qingdao Jingkang TCM Nephropathy Hospital conducted joint ward rounds.
During the visit, they thoroughly reviewed each patient’s medical history, symptoms, and medication responses. By combining Western medical reports with TCM diagnostic experience, the team engaged in in-depth discussions and formulated optimized, personalized treatment plans—offering patients renewed confidence in recovery.

△President Wang also personally took pulses and prescribed TCM herbal formulas for several patients, including those with lung cancer.
Together with Presidents Zhang Xinan and Liu Bingxin, he provided detailed consultations using the traditional TCM “Four Diagnostic Methods” (inspection, listening/smelling, inquiry, and palpation). Their clear and compassionate explanations eased anxiety among patients and families, fostering trust and reassurance.

Both TCM and Western medicine have distinct advantages, but when practiced separately, patients must often shuttle between departments—disrupting treatment continuity and personalization.
The core goal of joint consultations is to break disciplinary barriers and deeply integrate Western medicine’s “precision medicine” with TCM’s “holistic approach,” achieving a synergistic effect greater than the sum of its parts.

The establishment of the TCM Rehabilitation Center not only enhances Fuda’s rehabilitation services but also opens new pathways for the innovative integration of Chinese and Western medicine.
This inauguration marks only the first step—in the future, the hospital will continue to invest in advanced equipment, professional talent, and research to explore more scientific and efficient rehabilitation methods, contributing further wisdom and strength to the cause of cancer rehabilitation.
